Legal framework
Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 requires an economic operator established in the EU for CE-marked products. The Authorized Representative keeps the technical documentation available for inspection, acts as the legal contact and communicates with market surveillance authorities. The General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 has strengthened enforcement since December 2024.
