What is an EU Authorized Representative?
A company established in the EU that a manufacturer outside the EU appoints by written mandate. The Authorized Representative keeps the technical documentation available for inspection, acts as the legal contact on the product and communicates with market surveillance authorities.
Do I need an EU Authorized Representative?
If you manufacture outside the EU and sell CE-marked products in Europe, Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 requires an economic operator established in the EU. For consumer products, the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires an EU-based Responsible Person since December 2024. Marketplaces such as Amazon and Zalando check for this before listing.

What documents do you need from us?
Your product portfolio, the Declaration of Conformity and the technical file. We verify both at onboarding and, depending on the plan, every year.
Do you verify our compliance?
Yes. Every plan includes the verification of the Declaration of Conformity and the technical file. Professional and Premium add an annual review of the technical documentation and post-market surveillance against European directives and standards.
Are you officially recognized by authorities?
Representa GmbH is a registered company in Germany (Lemgo District Court, HRB 11392) and listed in the U.S. International Trade Administration directory of CE marking consultants. The appointment as Authorized Representative itself is made by your written mandate; there is no separate state licence for this role.
What happens if my product is found non-compliant?
We respond to the authority, provide the documentation we hold and coordinate the next steps with you. Under GPSR, incidents are tracked and reported as required.
How much does the service cost?
